This Month in History... February
.jpg)
Photo taken of the square after the ice storm of February 17, 1909. A reminder that winter is not over! The tall flagpole was the last of four successive poles on that site. An earlier one was a mast of the Milan-built schooner, Idaho

Built in 1846, the Galpin Residence was the home of Dr. Leman Galpin, the attending physician at the birth of Thomas A. Edison. Constructed in a Greek Revival style, the house speaks to the influx of settlers to the Milan area from the East. It was the first building acquired by the Museum in 1955, and remains the main exhibit hall for the campus.
Exhibits include the newly renovated Milan Canal exhibit, Folk Art Gallery and Mowry Glass Collection. "Dazzling!", "The best collection I've seen!", are comments by visitors to the comprehensive Mowry Glass wing. With well over 1,500 pieces, the Mowry personal collection includes examples of all major types of American and European glass. Over 30 pieces of modern work by Dominick Labino, are also featured. The Mowry gift of pattern glass include hundreds of patterns from the 19th and 20th centuries.
The second floor is temporarily closed for renovations.
