2nd Annual Non-Juried Quilt Show

EXTENDED DEADLINE
* Forms must be received by Thursday, July 10, 2008.
* Quilt delivery on July 7, 8, 9 & 10 between 9am and 5pm.
* Quilts may be mailed to Museum. All entries must be received by July 10, 2008. Entrant’s requesting entry returned by mail must include pre-paid postage or money order for cost equal to that of shipping.
* Quilt Show opens at 10:00am and closes at 4:00pm, July 13, 2008.
* Self pick-up may begin after 4:00pm on July 13, 2008. Pick-up in Museum Office July 14, 15 & 16 between 9am and 5pm.

    Workers Discover Rare British Coin

    During recent construction to the Milan Historical Museum’s Galpin Residence, contractors unveiled a hidden treasure.  A British coin of King William IV dating 1831 was found during renovations.  The coin reads GUILELMUS IIII DEI GRATIA on the obverse with a portrait of William and BRITANNIAR:  REX FID: DEF on the reverse with a female Britannia seated on a rock, holding a trident and resting a shield against her right side.  A floral emblem is below her.  The inscription translates to “William IV, by the grace of God, king of Britain and defender of the faith.” 

    Due to the lack of currency during the early years of Milan, English currency was used, which explains this coins presence.
