| The Milan Historical Museum tour consists of visiting the buildings of the museum complex to explore life of the 19th century and Milan local history, particularly the Milan Canal. Through use of the artifacts and some hands-on props, the tour guides depict the occupations, chores, and hobbies of everyday life as it was in the 1800's. |
| Newton Arts Building |
Galpin House |
Opened in 1971, the Edna Roe Newton Memorial Building, stately in its architecture, houses the collection of one Milan family, acquired from around the world. |
The Galpin Home, named for the doctor who constructed the house in 1846, is now the center of the Milan Historical Museum's campus. |
| Doll & Toy House |
Sayles House |
The Doll & Toy House features the outstanding Mildred Smith Coulton Doll Collection, over 350 charming examples of china, bisque, wax, paper mache and composition dolls. |
The 1843 Sayles House is fully furnished and features a weaving room, a child's playroom and an upground cellar. |
| Blacksmith Shop |
General Store |
The Blacksmith Shop is packed with the smithy's tools of the trade. Adjacent is the Carriage Shed where buggies, fire equipment, tools, and farm implements remind us of the days before steam and gas powered engines.
|
The Lockwood, Smith & Co. General Store is a replica of the typical town market where prescriptions could be filled, calico and lace bought for a special dress, and exotic coffee beans ground to your liking.
|
| Four Seasons Statue Garden |
Ohio & Milan History |
The Four Seasons Perennial Garden, graced by marble statues representing Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter is just one of many quiet niches.
