Appointments are required of all school groups visiting the Museum.
Guided Tours
Students and teachers may explore the collection with a trained Museum docent who will lead discussions and exercises designed to encourage critical thinking in response to the collections. Tours are apporpriate for the group's grade, level of ability, and subject of interest. A group consists of no fewer than 10 people, with 1 chaperone required for every 10 students. The Museum cannot guarantee access to all galleries at all times.
Get an insider's view of the Museum and customize your tour with a special focus on highlights of the Museum's permanent collection, a particular exhibition, theme, or gallery. For tour topics, please call the Museum Office at 419-499-2968.
Self-Guided Tours
Teachers may guide their students through the galleries and discuss special topics of interest. A group consists of no fewer than 10 people, with 1 chaperone required for every 10 students. Self-guided appointments must be made in advance. The Museum cannot guarantee access to all galleries at all times.
Two-Museum Visit:
The Milan Historical Museum and Thomas Edison Birthplace Museum
Groups may make appointments to visit The Thomas Edison Birthplace Museum, located 1/4 mile north of the MHM on a hilltop overlooking the Milan Canal Basin.
If you plan to visit the Museum and The Thomas Edison Birthplace Museum on the same day, your group pays admission to both museums.

Information for Bus Drivers
Buses may park along Edison Drive North, in front of the Milan Historical Museum. The recommended return route is north on Edison Drive to Front Street, west on Front Street across Milan Public Square, south on Main Street and back onto State Route 113.
